Through Eye’s of an Eagle

My husband and many others saw an Eagle flying over the Pow Wow in Rockton, IL this past Saturday. That had to be an exhilarating sight. I will explain in brief, Native American people believe the Eagle is a sacred bird who flies closest to the Creator. It is a very brief explanation but wanted to share to bring more understanding to this weeks good words.

“Allow me Creator to see as clear and as crisp as the Eagle. Let me see the pureness of the love. Allow me to take in the beauty of the land the Mother Earth shares with us. Thank you, Great Spirit for such a powerful and amazingly beautiful bird.”

 

Beauty through Rough Waters

Not only literally (with the hurricane and the flooding) but figuratively:

“Creator I know when the water is rough and the day looks bleak there is beauty to come from or even within it. Like a rainbow after a storm allow my heart to radiate like those beautiful colors and not only brighten my day but everyone around me and in my path.”

 

Water in the Sky

Have you ever seen a sunset that looks like the sun is relfecting on water? Oh it was soooo beautiful!

Grilling Organic Style-Caribbean Beef Burgers with Mango Salsa

Brought to You by Finger Lakes Gourmet

Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs. Piedmontese organic ground beef
2 tbsp. Caribbean jerk seasoning
salt

Mango Salsa:

1 large mango, peeled, coarsely chopped (about 1 cup)
1 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
1 tbsp. chopped green onion
1 tbsp. finely chopped seeded jalapeño pepper
1 tbsp. fresh lime juice

Combine ground beef and jerk seasoning in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 3/4 inch thick patties.

Place patties on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, uncovered, 13-15 minutes to medium (160°F) doneness, until not pink in center and juices show no pink color, turning frequently. Season with salt, as desired.
Meanwhile combine salsa ingredients in medium bowl, mixing lightly. Serve burgers with salsa.

Natures Gifts

It was such a gift to see the Dow’s and their Fawn’s yesterday on our weekly drive around the state parks. What a Blessing to see the Hawk fly only ten feet above our heads at our house the day before. So many years I just wasn’t paying attention to the sheer beauty of nature, be it just the tree’s swaying in a breeze or a little critter foraging for food. I was missing it all! I thank the Creator for allowing me to see these and appreciate them again like I did as a child.

“Today allow me to open up my eye’s, not only for the obvious daily sights but also to nature. Let nature reveal itself to me through my spiritual eyes. Let me absorb it’s beauty. Creator, I am thankful for ALL you created.”

 

Are You Staying Hydrated?

With summers long days and nights we spend more time out doors enjoying it, however these summer months bring a very big concern about dehydration and heat related illnesses. Staying hydrated is so important to the function of the body! It is easily avoided just by drinking enough water and fluids (non alcoholic beverages and avoid a lot of caffeine) recommended throughout the day. When your mouth feels dry you are not just becoming dehydrated you already are. It is important to drink before you become thirsty because once you are it means your dehydrated. Have you found that sometimes you feel like no matter what you do you can’t quench your thirst? Your Dehydrated!

I keep myself fairly busy and because of that I even sometimes struggle to drink before I become thirsty. To help prevent that, I keep a water bottle with me 95% of the time. I do not drink tap water, only filtered or spring as I have noticed tap water makes me feel more thirsty (even if I wasn’t to begin with). I also drink juices that are 100% juice. I found that drinking the ones that we only not 100% made me feel sticky and more thirsty too.

Drink the recommended amount of fluid and in my opinion the best choice would be filtered or spring water.

 

Spiritaully Speaking

How many of you speak freely about your spirituality?

I have noticed not a whole bunch of people do. I found that I don’t either. Shocking as this blog is about wellness inside (spirit) and out. Yeah I share Today’s Good Words which are little prayers to God, however I have one post about my beliefs. It is a startling realization on my part because spiritually speaking I feel on the right path. I am a Christian, plain and simple. I study spirituality and religions. I am walking my path, learning along the way about my own spirituality.

Spirituality is very important to me as I believe that balance inside and out is the key to true well being. Wellness as a whole includes a healthy spirit. We shouldn’t feel hindered from talking about it.

 

Summer Days

Not quite back 100% from maternatity leave but going to start posting to my guides (blogs). I am going to gauge my online time (having the little one limits it drastaclly) to see how many hours a day I will have to do what I need online for my businesses. Once I have that I can schedule everything and will be good to go! Now for the good words:

“Embrace the warmth of the summer sun with open arms and Praise our Creator for the beauty summer brings to us. Allow the sound of children’s laughter as they enjoy there time in the sun, to lift your spirits and remember your summer day childhood memories and smile.”

 

The Beauty in Bouts of Anxiety

I nervously awaited the surgery as I arrived at 6:30 am June 4th only to be told that they had rescheduled my surgery for 11 so I didn’t need to be there until 9 am. I was really irritated as I never got a phone call from the office or the hospital but none the less, I was there and they got me ready and was going to try to get me in earlier. OK didn’t start off so well but I was ok with that as I could take a nap…and I tried LOL. They came in about 11 am to give me the meds before surgery, yuk. They gave me this one for vomiting..it caused such a panic in me that I was ready to rip off my IV and walk the heck out of the hospital. I was so freaked out and could not control the anxiety I was in tears. I tried my Yoga relaxation breathing, talking with my husband and best friend about anything other than the surgery. About 30 minutes after the dose of anxiety (vomiting medication my butt). I did find out from a pharmacist that it is a common side affect. So after that spell of what I thought would never end I am wheeled into the OR. They admistered the spinal block. I felt an electrical shock in my left leg and heard the anesthesiologist say “I am not getting a good flow”.  The Doctor said “don’t worry about it it should be fine or we will put her under”.  All the anxiety was coming back…go under?? NO WAY! After a few minutes I did numb up enough for the surgery to be done while I was awake.

Then just a few minutes later, our beautiful baby girl was born. All that anxiety was worth the elation I felt come over me the moment I saw her. The beauty that followed all that chaos, who knew!

 

On Maternity Leave

Monday June 4th is the definite day, however at today’s last appointment I got this information. My cervix is thinning out “your cervix is pretty thin and your about 1 cenimeter dialated”. Now having been induced twice and 1 c-section I never heard this before. All it means is I can go into labor before Monday. At my last appointment they assured me this would be ok AND if all went well I can possibly deliver vaginally..YIPPY

I have been having so much pressure today and non-painful tightening of belly I can’t tell. Like I said I don’t know how labor would really start LOL. I figure water breaking or the non-painful tightening turning painful will be my cue !

I certainly would not mind a vaginal birth as you heal up so much faster and the beauty of child birth is not missed out on…yes I said the beauty of child birth LOL. I did feel let down when I had to have a c-section with my son as I felt like it took away from me…weird I know but then again I am a natural girl and like things the way nature intended them to be. So if I went into labor naturally and had a natural birth I would be THRILLED as none of my births were ALL natural so to speak
